Van Doesburg-Rinsemahuis (2019)
Background
In September 1920 Theo Van Doesburg (1883-1931) became acquainted with the Drachtster municipal architect Cees Rienks de Boer (1881-1966). At that moment the architect is working on a design for a number of medium-sized houses. De Boer asks Van Doesburg for comments and color advice for the interior and exterior of the houses.
For Van Doesburg, this is the first major architectural assignment in which he can realize his new ideas about the integration of visual art and architecture. One of these houses was opened to the public after years of research and reconstruction in 2019: the Van Doesburg Rinsemahouse.
